Based on the AAP infant formula feeding guide
Calculations follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guide "Amount and Schedule of Baby Formula Feedings." The AAP recommends frequent feedings (8–12 per day) in the newborn period, then larger and less-frequent feedings as your baby grows past 4–6 months.
Read the AAP formula feeding guide →Note These are average recommended amounts. It is normal for your baby to take ±20% more or less than the number above on a given day. Watch total daily intake and growth trends rather than perfectly matching every feeding.
AAP recommended amounts by age
Per-feeding amounts, daily feeding counts, and total daily volume from the AAP guide. Use these as a range — adjust within it based on your baby's weight and growth.

Signs that warrant a pediatrician visit
If any of these apply, talk to your pediatrician. Growth, stooling, and overall behavior matter more than the exact ounces per feeding.
- Fewer than 6 wet diapers in 24 hours (after the first week)
- Weight gain noticeably below average, or weight loss
- Frequent forceful vomiting or projectile spit-up after every feeding
- Little interest in feeding and lethargy lasting more than 24 hours
- Suspected allergy signs after formula — rash, diarrhea, or blood in stool
For emergency symptoms (breathing trouble, unresponsiveness, lethargy with fever) go to the ER right away.
