- Weeks 17–18: skeleton hardens and the nervous system matures.
- Quickening (first felt movement) usually occurs between 18–22 weeks — later for first pregnancies.
- Anatomy ultrasound (level II) at 18–22 weeks — heart, brain, kidneys, spine.
