- Nails start growing on fingers and toes.
- The placenta takes over most hormone production.
Maternal changes

- The uterus is large enough to rise out of the pelvis.
Recommended checkups
- Schedule the first-trimester screen (NT scan, weeks 11–13) and NIPT if desired.
