Fetal development

- The heart starts dividing into four chambers.
- Liver, kidneys and lungs begin forming.
Maternal changes
- The uterus is now about the size of a grapefruit, causing pelvic pressure.
- Weight may stay the same or dip slightly because of nausea.
Recommended checkups
- You will likely have the first comprehensive prenatal appointment — blood work, urinalysis, and a pap smear.
